Life Span Perspective: Drama Therapy and Aging:
For the first time, NYU offers a course on aging, the life span, and drama therapy. This course introduces students to the study of gerontology and drama therapy. Students were introduced to life span development from various theoretical lenses; explored narrative life review and incorporated drama therapy techniques throughout. We examined intersectional perspectives on aging, ageism, and our personal narratives about getting older. End-of-life issues, bereavement and intergenerational relationships were also explored. In this presentation, Clara shared about her Menopause Project, in which she entered an investigation with her mother on the topic of menopause narratives, to demystify “the change,” and to create a change simultaneously.
