How We Begin is a multi-lingual podcast initiated by two Asian drama therapists graduated from NYU, Jun and Clara. Our team has grown to include members currently in training and in Canada. We recognize and understand that it is not an easy path being trained, getting licensed, while standing at the intersections of cultures. Our mission is to illuminate the journeys of Asian creative arts therapists and those who incorporate arts in healthcare professions. By sharing their unique stories and experiences, we hope to foster understanding, empathy, and appreciation for the diverse paths that lead individuals to pursue this profession.

Through heartfelt conversations and insightful discussions, we seek to:

  1. Amplify Voices: Give a voice to helping professionals practicing creative arts therapy, highlighting their challenges, triumphs, and the impact of their work.
  2. Promote Awareness: Increase public understanding and appreciation of creative arts therapy and related fields across national and cultural borders, demystifying the processes and benefits involved.
  3. Foster Connection: Create a supportive community where professionals and aspiring individuals can share knowledge, support each other, and grow together. In particular, document effective and inspirational conversations between drama therapy and other creative arts modalities.
  4. Inspire Action: Encourage listeners to understand the trajectory of studying creative arts therapy and to advocate for systemic support to provide regulated services in their communities.
